No Of Rounds: 2
Updated on: 03.10.2022
I had two rounds. The first was screening and a little about skills, and the second was a technical round based on manual and automation testing. They asked me more situation-based questions.
Questions:
- Tell me about yourself.
- Tell me about agile
- What is scrum
- What is your team size?
- How was your release planned, and how you delivered it?
- How do you handle your project risk?
- If you had only one resource in your team and you had an unplanned leave, how would you handle it?
- Tell me about the performance, ETL, and Non-functional testing.
- Tell me about your project’s functional and non-functional flow
- What risk & how do you handle your project
- What are the functional and non-functional requirements?
- DB-SQL Questions asked.
- Which test cases take a pick for automation?
- What is Regression testing?
- What is the difference between smoke and sanity testing?
- What is the difference between Equivalence class partition and Boundary Value Analysis, and what is its use?
- Explain the automation framework used in the project
- Most of the questions were situation-based.
- They gave me scenarios and asked about the logic for automation testing.
2nd Round – Technical Round
- Have you worked on an Agile framework
- What is an agile ceremony
- Which type of different meeting took place?
- What is the test plan & test scenario?
- Automation Framework/ Basic Program
- How did you handle the situation when, in production, you found a defect?
Tips: The first step is always shortlisting your resume; I have a 3.5-year gap. I used the subject line, which STS guided me through, which was very beneficial. After the gap, I also got many calls, and as per my experience, credit goes to the subject line.

The first round was telephoned by a third-party vendor. He quickly asked questions to filter the candidature. I guess the second round was via a Zoom video call taken by an SDET. Overall, it was a more technical interview, maybe because of years of experience and role.

- Difference between Abstract class and interface.

- Selenium real-time Qs – dynamic element, exception handling, framework structure, reporting, listeners, running failed cases, read test data, config file, Jenkins, CI-CD.
- Testing – mostly situational, like crunch timelines, team management, agile team/events/estimation, one or two SQL queries, test plan & approach, etc.
- API Testing basics like status codes, read JSON, authentication, etc.
Tips: Nowadays, the focus during initial rounds is on Java programming and test automation. I feel I should keep giving interviews no matter what. I have learned a lot during these multiple interviews.
